Watch how high I can jump is something that I hear from my grandkiddies as they learn and try new things. Kids love to have your undivided attention especially when they have something new to show. I love to watch them, and like most grandparents, dote on every new trick.
I have often thought of when I raised my own children as they learned and mastered new skills. I remember watching them but I don’t remember getting quite as excited as I do with my grandchildren. I am not really sure why, but I have heard many other grandparents say the same thing.
Maybe it is because as parents we were so busy with the day to day tasks we take those simple little victories for granted. As a grandparent, we miss having the little kids around all the time so maybe we treasure the time we do get to spend just a little bit more.
One of the things I enjoy is reading to my grandkids. We read the new books I get and if they are a favorite we read them again and again and again. I am sure you know the drill. Pretty soon they can recite the books to you. Something that really makes me smile.
The favorite of the two was “How High Can You Jump?” I think this was one of the favorites because right now they are into “watch me do this Grammy.”
In the book “How High Can You Jump?” Blue and his friends Hot Air Balloon and Sunflower with a Bee are always competing. Now Blue has a hard time jumping very high. He has something that is continually weighing him down. No matter how hard he tries he just can’t jump quite as high as his friends. Then one day something happens.
In “The Little Cloud” another book written by C. Fulsty. Strato is a little cloud that wants to be as big as his brother clouds. He tries and tries but he just can’t get the rays from the sun, so that he can grow. He tries and tries and nothing seems to work. Will he ever get the rays from the suns that he needs to grow?
C. Fulsty writes books in hopes to encourage kids to follow their dreams. Check out the blog page for other fun and interesting books from other authors following their dreams. And don’t forget to check out “Buffy’s Wish.” An entertaining story to prove dreams can come true.
